Superb intro to a complex subject. I have questions. Microsoft became rich because it wrote operating systems for PCs, as well as apps like MS Word and Excel, and SQL Server. Then it went further by giving us languages and toolboxes like Visual Studio with which to build apps that could actually compete with Microsoft apps. My questions are: is Llama Stack like Visual Studio was for writing apps for PCs? Will using this toolbox allow developers to write AIs that actually compete with Anthropic Claude, Pi.ai, Gemini, Chatgpt? Will developers be able to write AIs that have no guardrails? Visual Studio was free for individuals; will Llama Stack be free for individuals? AIs today know everything; is that because of the billions and sometimes trillions of parameters? If so, if Llama Stack will allow developers to write Chatgpt competitors, will we still need those trillions of parameters? Will another industry arise, selling those parameters to entities building their own AIs?
